Composite Fillings

Composite fillings consist of a blend of plastic resin and powdered glass filler.
This versatile material is utilized for repairing decayed and cracked teeth.

Glass Lonomer

Glass Ionomer fillings are created with acrylic and fluoroaluminosilicate, a glass component, for strength. They are mostly utilised for teeth with significant decay below the gumline, including baby teeth.

During your dental checkup, our dentist will assess each tooth's surface to detect any cavities that require filling. The choice of filling material depends on various factors, such as the extent of the repair, allergies to dental materials, filings area in the mouth and cost.

1. Numbing the area

If necessary, our dentist will begin by numbing the area around the tooth that requires filling with a local anaesthetic.

2. Preparation of the filling material

Next, our dentist will shape the space to prepare it for the filling. Different types of fillings require different shaping procedures to make sure they will stay in place.

3. Filling the cavity

The filling material will then be placed into the cavity, layer by layer, and compacted until the cavity is completely filled.

4. Polishing

Finally, after the filling is placed, your dentist will use burs to finish and polish the tooth surface.
