Artius Dental's general dentists have been delivering quality dental services to families in Malaysia for several years. Our commitment is to offer personalised care of the highest standard to patients of all age groups, ranging from regular check-ups to more intricate restorative treatments.
We provide the following general dental treatments:
Composite fillings are created using plastic and fine glass particles, blending perfectly with the color of your tooth. As a result, they are primarily used for front teeth or any other visible parts of the tooth.
Gold fillings are created using durable gold alloy, which lasts longer than other filling materials. While they do not match the natural color of teeth, they are commonly used for fillings in the back teeth.
Ceramic fillings are made of porcelain and are tooth coloured, so they look natural. Ceramic fillings are more brittle than composite resin and can break but they are more resistant to staining.
Glass Lonomer fillings are created with acrylic and fluoroaluminosilicate, a glass component, for strength. They are mostly utilised for teeth with significant decay below the gumline, including baby teeth.

During your dental checkup, our dentist will assess each tooth's surface to detect any cavities that require filling. The choice of filling material depends on various factors, such as the extent of the repair, allergies to dental materials, filings area in the mouth and cost.
Our dentist will first numb the area around the tooth that needs filling by applying a local anaesthetic.
Our dentist will then use a dental drill or a laser to remove the decayed part of the tooth.
Next, our dentist will shape the space to prepare it for the filling. Different types of fillings require different shaping procedures to make sure they will stay in place.
The filling material will then be placed into the cavity, layer by layer, and compacted until the cavity is completely filled.
Finally, after the filling is placed, your dentist will use burs to finish and polish the tooth surface.
What type of anaesthetic is used?
Local anaesthetic, such as lidocaine, is used to numb the part of the mouth that our dentist is treating.
How long does the procedure take?
Filling is a common and relatively simple procedure. A typical filling procedure takes about an hour. If you have several cavities that need to be filled, our dentist may treat them over multiple visits.
What to expect after the procedure?
After a filling procedure, the tooth may be sensitive to pressure, cold air or liquids or sweet foods. Some patients many experience numbness, tingling, and some minor pain around the injection site. These effects often subside within a few hours of the procedure.
Sealants are a safe and painless way of protecting your teeth from tooth decay by forming a protective layer that keeps food and bacteria from getting stuck in the tiny grooves in the teeth.
Fissure sealants is a protective plastic coating which is applied on to the grooves of the back teeth mainly the molars and premolars.
Our dentist will consult you, on which teeth should be sealed after they have thoroughly examined, whether the fissures are deep enough for sealing to help.
Some teeth naturally have deep grooves which will need to be sealed meanwhile others have shallow ones which does not need sealing.

Who should get dental sealants?
Sealants are often applied as soon as the first permanent teeth start to come through (usually between 6 and 7 years of age). The rest are usually sealed as soon as they appear, which can be any time between 11 and 14 years of age.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure is usually quick and easy. It takes only a few minutes per tooth. The tooth is thoroughly cleaned, prepared with a special solution, and dried. The sealant is then applied and allowed to set hard – usually by shining a blue light onto it.
What to expect after the procedure?
The procedure is pain free. No differences are felt on teeth after the procedure.
How long do dental sealants last?
Sealant usually last for many years, but needs to be checked regularly to make sure that the seal is intact. It can wear over time, and sometimes needs to be added to or replaced, to be sure that no decay starts underneath it.
Fluoride is a natural mineral that builds strong teeth and prevents cavities. Fluoride supports healthy tooth enamel and also fights the bacteria that harms teeth and gums.
Fluoride works by restoring minerals such as calcium and phosphate to tooth surfaces where bacteria may have eroded the enamel.
It inhibits or even reverses the development of cavities by harming bacteria that causes it.
Fluoride benefits both children and adults. The earlier children are exposed to fluoride, the less likely they are to develop cavities.
Fluoride treatment prevents gum disease and the premature loss of teeth.
For child who is under 3 years old, they should only brush their teeth under close supervision.

Always supervise a child’s brushing to ensure they use the right amount of toothpaste and try to get them to spit out most of it, if they can.
What does the treatment involve?
Our dentists provide professional fluoride treatment containing a high concentration of fluoride, in the form of rinse, gel or varnish that is applied to patient’s teeth with a swab or brush.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes a few minutes only.
What to expect after the procedure?
The procedure is generally safe. It is advisable for patient not to eat or drink during the first 30 minutes to an hour after treatment, so that the fluoride can fully absorb.
